ZADCO's mandate was to develop the Upper Zakum field on behalf of ADNOC and for the benefit of the shareholders.

As a result to the continuous efforts exerted during the early years, the first shipment of Upper Zakum crude oil was exported on the tanker “Al-Ain” on 24th May 1983, marking a significant achievement in the Company progress.

In April 1988, another important event in ZADCO's history took place as ADNOC decided to merge the operations of Umm Al-Dalkh Development Company (UDECO) with ZADCO's operations. This merger, which was considered the first of its kind in the oil industry in Abu Dhabi added more responsibilities related to the operations of Umm Al Dalkh and Satah fields besides Upper Zakum field.

ZADCO aims to be a Performance Driven Organization and to manage its assigned business portfolio within the Supreme Petroleum Council strategy in order to achieve the goals of its Shareholders by performing at “World Class” standards in all activities.

• It establishes and maintains the optimum off-take level for each reservoir in line with Shareholders guidelines.
• It increases the economic value of the assets as measured by the proven recoverable reserve increase and economic evaluation.
• It meets short and long-term production requirements and promotes competent Emiratization of the Company.
